Technology validation · Water resilience · Resource recovery

Validating mineral recovery for more resilient water systems.

Ajo Water (Sol)utions is seeking early investment and technical partners to validate a mineral-recovery-led desalination platform. The immediate objective is clear: prove the chemistry, performance, and economics required to advance toward pilot scale and global deployment.

01 / Thesis

Desalination produces two streams. The opportunity is to create value from both.

Conventional projects focus on fresh water and treat concentrated brine as a disposal problem. Our thesis is that selective mineral recovery can create marketable products, reduce concentrate-management pressure, and improve the economics of water production. The next step is disciplined technical and commercial validation.

02 / Approach

Fund the proof. Measure what matters.

The proving ground is flexible. What matters now is securing the resources, expertise, and suitable brine source needed to generate defensible evidence before advancing larger water-restoration systems.

01

Characterize

Select a technically suitable brine source and establish a defensible laboratory profile.

02

Recover

Test selective recovery routes for minerals supported by the actual feed chemistry.

03

Validate

Measure purity, yield, energy use, operating cost, and potential product value.

04

Advance

Use the evidence to define pilot design, integration requirements, and a credible scale-up case.

Target elements and commercial recoverability depend on brine composition, process performance, market specifications, and local regulation.

03 / Development origins

Two environments. One globally adaptable platform.

The Colorado River Basin and the New Orleans delta are complementary development pathways—not fixed conditions for success. Together, they show how the technology can respond to distinctly different water and infrastructure challenges.

Coastal & delta application

New Orleans & the Gulf

A setting for testing brine and mineral recovery alongside coastal resilience and circular-material applications under demanding flood, storm, land-loss, road, and levee conditions.

Inland basin application

Colorado River Basin

A pathway for evaluating how validated recovery and desalination economics could support Gulf of California intake, efficient conveyance, remineralization, and watershed restoration.

Transferable model

Global viability

A modular platform designed to adapt to local brine chemistry, resource markets, water needs, infrastructure, and regulation across coastal and inland regions.

04 / Scale pathway

Validation before infrastructure.

The larger vision connects desalination with responsible concentrate management, mineral recovery, efficient water delivery, and regional restoration. But infrastructure scale must follow—not precede—evidence.

Initial funding will focus on feedwater characterization, recovery testing, product quality, energy demand, operating cost, and pilot design. Regional routes, water rights, ecological effects, and capital requirements will then require independent engineering and regulatory study.

05 / Partnership

Fund the evidence that can unlock the larger system.

We are seeking early-stage investors, laboratory and pilot partners, desalination specialists, geochemists, mineral-separation researchers, engineers, and strategic advisors. The immediate mandate is to validate the technology and build a fundable pilot case.

06 / Founder

Joseph Donald Bowman

A systems-level approach to water restoration.

Joseph Donald Bowman is the founder of Ajo Water (Sol)utions and a University of Arizona graduate in Neuropsychology and Business Administration, with an emphasis in entrepreneurship. He has spent several years developing a systems-level approach to water restoration, desalination economics, and resource recovery. His immediate focus is assembling the technical expertise and early funding needed to independently validate the technology and advance it toward a pilot.
